MySQL find files NOT matching name pattern
Hi,

I have following files in my directory:

total 14

-rw-r--r--   1 oracle   dba           19 May 15 06:22 ful_1234_test1.txt
-rw-r--r--   1 oracle   dba           19 May 15 06:22 ful_1234_test2.txt
-rw-r--r--   1 oracle   dba           19 May 15 06:22 ful_1234_test3.txt
-rw-r--r--   1 oracle   dba           19 May 15 06:22 ful_1234_test4.txt
-rw-r--r--   1 oracle   dba            0 May 15 06:21 ful_1234_test1.dmp
drwxr-xr-x   8 oracle   dba         1024 May 15 06:20 ..

I tried to find a file which is created/modified fewer than one day and name not like ful*, using the following command:

find . -mtime -1 ! \( -name ful* \)  -exec ls -lt {} \;

I was expecting to see the file exception.txt in the output, but instead I'm getting:

/TESTDONTDEL> find . ! \( -name ful* \)  -mtime +1 -exec ls -lt {} \;
find: bad option ful_1234_test1.txt
find: path-list predicate-list

How can I achieve the desired result?

My OS version is: SunOS 5.8 Generic_117350-45 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your suggestion, actually I realized that the wildcard character * needs to be escaped using \ as seen below
/TESTDONTDEL> find . -mtime -1 ! -name ful\*
.
./exception.txt
