Asking on cut

Hi ,
like to enquire whether is there cut or any method we can cut away the newline as shown below:

T_APPLICANT:1542


T_APPLICANT_CCA:1944


T_APPLICANT_ESSAY:18

to become :

T_APPLICANT:1542
T_APPLICANT_CCA:1944
T_APPLICANT_ESSAY:18

If i understand correctly you want to suppress blank lines from a file

try

sed "/^$/d" < file1 > newfile
