What does this Error Message Mean

Hi I found the following error message in my logs:

warning: /etc/hosts.deny, line 6: can't verify hostname: getaddrinfo(localhost) didn't return ::ffff:222.255.28.33

What is the error message trying to indicate? That there is a problem with line 6

Yes it is saying there is something wrong with what you have in line 6 of your /etc/hosts.deny file.

If you are not sure what is wrong, post your /etc/hosts.deny file and we can help you out.

Make sure your OS can resolve the name in lines 6 of /etc/hosts.deny to an IP address, e.g. try the following commands:
$ nslookup <machinename>
$ host <machinename>
$ dig <machinename>
$ getent hosts <machinename>

substituting <machinename> with the host enty from line 6 of hosts.deny.
