Thanks again for your reply. The same id that has the above profile is being used through filezilla. I wanted to give some business users access to specific directories as they don't need to have access to everything. And business users can't telnet, they use file zilla because of its GUI.

Not sure if you need more info, but here goes anyways.

Say your business users login with user account droberts dev group.
The directories that they can navigate too have these permissions: ( 750 )

drwxr-x--- 4 droberts dev 1024 Apr 16 10:39 .

Directories that you don't want them access to must be like this:

drwxr-x--- 4 jsmith research 1024 Apr 16 10:39 .

It makes for a way tighter system.

But this way you can definitely keep people only looking at directories they're supposed to.
