Question Vnc

Anyone know of a site where I can download a copy (non-evaluation copy and preferably free. Smilie nods to Neo's post in UNIX Operating System thread) of VNC for RedHat 8? Thanks in advance.

I've used their PalmOS VNC software, and it's a pain to set up, but the benefits of VNC are well worth it. If the above mentioned other distribution of VNC is easier to install and configure, i highly recomend giving it a go. It' can't get much worse Smilie

Personally I prefer XDCMP but VNC has it's merits in working with our Windows (shudder) and Macintosh brethren.

For everyone's future information:

This thread just made me remember the problems of finding programs for distributions without a package management system that locates programs for you.

Well there is something called apt4rpm, which as the the name suggests, is a port of the apt-get system to rpm based distros.
For those who don't know apt is a package management system for Debian that install, removes and updates your software and system packages automatically resolving dependancies online.
Other distributions have similar thigs, eg Gentoo's emerge, Mandrake's urpmi.
Well, a while ago Connectiva ported apt-get to their RPM-based distro and now it can be found for SuSE, Mandrake, RedHat and presumably others.

Anyway, a RedHat version of apt4rpm and the associated repository can be found here. A nice tip for it's installation and use can be found here

Good Luck, hope it ends your rpm woes.

The joy of the FreeBSD ports system!

Code:
make search key=some_keyword

It's good to see Linux distros starting to leave the RPM behind.
