cannot delete this file
Hello,

I'm having trouble deleting the abcde .txt file.

-rw-rw-r-- 1 abcde fghij 1871 Nov 25 06:20 abcde .txt
-rw-rw-r-- 1 abcde fghij 1469 Feb 18 02:51 efghi.txt

Tried moving/removing the file..

bash-2.03# rm abcde .txt
abcde: No such file or directory
.txt: No such file or directory

bash-2.03# rm "abcde .txt"
abcde .txt: No such file or directory

Need ideas. TIA

Does the user trying to delete the file has enough privileges???

The easiest solution when there are hidden/special characters is:

rm -i ab*

This puts you into interactive mode and if there are other ab* files you can tell rm NOT to remove those and chose only the file you want to delete.

file was owned by me and our group

I know how to check if any file has a unix process using a file by looking at 'lsof <fullpath/filename>' command. I think using lsof is very expensive.
