Based on your picture, it seems that you have to modify the driver file and re-install the driver. Alternatively, you could disable the 2 bcme ports on the mainboard and install a

As far as booting from a usb device, it is likely that the "loading free-dos" comes from the boot sector, but when the boot program tries to load the kernel (command.com) it can no longer find it.

You might have better luck booting from a dvd
