Hello srinadhreddy27,

Please use code tags for commands/codes/Inputs which you are using into your posts as per forum rules.
Not sure about your complete requirement but if you want to append a text to a Input_file you could try following then.
Code:
echo " file1 is archived" > archive.txt
echo " file2 is archived" >> archive.txt
echo " file3 is archived" >> archive.txt

If you have other requirements then please do show us sample Input_file(in code tags) with expected output(in code tags).

Thanks,
R. Singh

Hi,

I need that output into both stdout and file as well.

Thanks,
Srinadh.

tee -a is doing exactly that: appending to files. So - WHAT exactly is unsatisfactory?

PLEASE! - get accustomed to supply sufficient data for us to work on! The minimum is OS, shell, and tool (awk, sed, ...) version, error messages or unexpected behaviour description, a representative input sample, and the real and desired output.

Code:
myCommandOrScript 2>&1 |tee -a my.file

is one way. Stdout and Stderr should appear the same way on the file than they did on the screen and append to an existing my.file if it was already there.
