Cron questions
Hello. I am using Solaris 10 (Sparc) and have a couple of questions regarding cron that I did not see answered in previous threads.

Can you add just a user/login name to the cron.allow file or is only groups that are added?

After adding a name or group to cron.allow, does cron need to be restarted to "see" the change? (I think I allready know the answer to that one)

If cron does need to be restarted, how do you restart it? I have tried:

su - root
/etc/init.d/cron restart

Whereupon I get an error saying cron restart aborted due to a FIFO lock file. I have tried deleting this file, but it almost immediately reappears (to keep a single instance of cron I'm assuming)

How does a person restart cron with a fifo lock file in /etc/cron.d?

Nevermind, found the answer:

svcadm restart svc:/system/cron

After doing that I was able to use cron with non-root accounts.
