Tools Disable/Enable HP print services SCO OS 5

We're running SCO Open Server 5. On occassion we need to disable/enable HP print services. There's nothing that I have found in the HP printer manager that allows for this. I know we can stop/start print services via SCOADMIN. On occassion one of our HP printers will generate an error, the msg in syslog(in part): "WARNING: allocb failed - NSTRPAGES exceeded". The only way we've been able fix these errors is to disable/enable print services and reboot.
Thank you in advance for any help or sarcasm you may have to offer.

There is no easy solution to this one. Basicly your system is failing to allocate sufficient resources for STREAMS. You can check if this is the case if:

Quote:
netstat -m shows non-zero numbers in the fail column

ndstat -l shows a non-zero number in "No STREAMS Buffers" column
Here is a pointer to a SCO TA on the subject: OpenServer 5, How to Debug STREAMS failures.

Thank you for your assistance. Netstat -m did come up with a non-zero number for mblks. Not sure yet what that means.
As for the possibility of disabling/enabling just the HP printers do you think that's something that can be done ?
Thanks again

Given that your problem is with STREAMS, disabling/enabling the
HP printers will not fix the problem.
