As an HP-UX person... I can tell you that HP wasn't pulling your leg when they told you that they don't support parallel CD-Writers on HP-UX 11. or 10 or any other version of HP-UX. You are wanting to use a hardware that is meant for PC's..... not midrange servers. Support for that device is simply not built into the O/S

How to remove a file with a leading dash '-' in it's name?

Somehow someone created a file named '-ov' in the root directory. Given the name, the how was probably the result of some cpio command they bozo'ed.
