Do you have access to the system console and know the root password?

You need to put the box in single user mode and try and find out what the problem is.

Firts get it in single-user mode, this may be done using "telinit s", if not you may have to hunt around how to do it.

Then see what volumes are mounted with mount, then go through /etc/fstab (or /etc/vfstab depending on your system) and confirm the volumes can be mounted, you should be able to mount each by using their mount points.

Now before going any further try and copy *all* of what you can to some backup media.

Now I am presuming that this is not a critical system, else you would not be in the situation where you have no installation media?

how to solve screwing startup scripts

Hi....

will i type "telinit s" at what prompt to enter single user mode? When i typed it
at # prompt,it shows command not found. At present, i can enter two login: 1.root
2.mandalay(our user login).
And when i type mount command at # prompt,i found that
root_domain#root on / type advfs (rw)
/proc on / proc type procfs (rw)
usr_domain#usr on / usr type advfs (rw)
users_dmn#users_fs on / usr2 / type advfs (rw)
And when i type cat command at /etc/fstab prompt, i found that
root_domain#root / advfs rw 0 0
/proc /proc procfs rw 0 0
usr_domain#usr /usr advfs rw 0 0
users_dmn#users_fs /usr2 advfs rw 0 0
/dev/rz0b swap1 ufs sw 0 2
So what else will i need to mount ???

It is not clear to me why you need to work mounting and unmounting disk partitions when you are debugging errors in startup / boot scripts.

This is not how I would approach correcting a boot script or inittab problem.

You need to simply boot in single user mode, or shut the system down to single user mode, if indeed, the problem is in your inittab.

However, I am not convinced that is where your problem lies. You need to provide more details about the exact problem to insure you are getting the right solution.
