But I want to backup more than one filesytem in my script, this script send my backup to /dev/rmt0 (tape drive).

my trouble is that I donīt know how to tell my script that make a jump in the tape to continuos backing up the next filesystem in the list. If somebody knows how? please help me !!!!.

Hi Ricardo, can you post the command that you are using? The tape will rewind after completing a backup command, but not if you specify an 'n' in the tape name.
As in:
tar -cf /dev/rmt0 /test - this will take a tar dump of the /test directory into /dev/rmt0 and then rewind the tape.

tar -cf /dev/rmt0n /test - this will prevent a tape rewind and you can continue taking backups as you go along.

To access the backups on the tape afterwards, you can rewind to the beginning of the tape and then skip forward using 'mt -f /dev/rmt0n fsf'.
