Rlogin not working properly from Linux

I have a mix of sun and linux servers in my enterprise. Not sure where to look for this problem any more. If i do an rlogin from my sun systems to this particular sun server there is no problem. However if i login from my ren hat enterprise servers to this sun box it takes quite a few minutes beforei get the password prompt. If i pretype the password andhit enter when the remote system finally sends the password prompt it accepts the pre-typed password. Don't know where to look for this problem any more.

i'm confused ... rlogin should not need a password when set correctly (see "man rlogin" or "man rsh") ... from what you've written, it seems to me either you have a setup issue with rlogin or you have a "network" problem slowing down the response ... if your rlogin setup is correct and verified, check you're firewall settings (if any) on the red hat server side ... if there are no firewalls involved, check your network setup for errors at the switches and/or routers ... good luck!

(btw, i'm not a firewall nor a network dude so i'm just offering hints to possibly help ...)
