Hi

I have a requirement in aix5.2 such that a particular user should be alloweded only to use menus not command prompt.He should not be alloweded to use ctrl-c or ctrl-d combinations to access the $pompt.If he tries the above mentioned key combinations, he should be forced logged out from the machine.

Do you have the menu program already developed? If so, just add the program with the full path in the .profile file for that user. The next line in .profile after the menu program should be 'exit 0'.

About trapping the CTRL-C and CTRL-D, you can search the forums with the keyword 'trap'.

Replace the users shell in the /etc/passwd file with your script. This way they never get a shell other than the script that you've written for them. When they exit the script it logs them out.

You'll have to add your script to the 'shells' variable in the /etc/security/login.cfg file too.

In your script add the following to prevent Ctrl-C.

Other than root user .Normal user is unable to create files
