Any idea why vsftpd not allowing edit of 0 size files?

hello
i can't edit files with 0 size through ftp. i'm opening new file in mc, then saving it, then edit and.. oops
i can copy it, delete or whatever. but not edit
file with 1 byte is fine. if i delete this byte and file becomes 0 - no edit
no clues in man vsftpd.conf
wtf?! any ideas?

There is no EDIT in the FTP protocol. So mc must do it via GET/edit/PUT.
I guess there is a bug in mc.
