How to extract data from single first cell and copy it notepad?
how to extract data from single first cell and copy it notepad

sample source IN EXCEL
DD-MM-YYYY[A1]
LOANNUM[A2] LOANPARTID[B2]

OUTPUT IN NOTEPAD
DD-MM-YYYY[A1]

I WANT ALONE DATE SHOULD BE EXTRACTED FROM EXCEL AND COPY IT IN NOTEPAD
CAN ANYONE HELP REGARDING THIS USING SCRIPTS

If your source file is a spreadsheet file, then note that it is a binary file format.

You cannot use shell scripts to work on such files. There are perl modules that allow you to work with spreadsheet file. Search CPAN for details.

But if it is a CSV file, it can be done using shell script. If yes, post a representative sample input and desired output in code tags

highlight and copy the cell/cells/columns you want from excel and then paste it into a notepad window
