netstat -r is slow when adding the resolv.conf

Hello All,

I configured a DNS server added the below entry to /etc/resolv.conf

domain example.com
nameserver 10.11.60.70

my nslookup commands are OK and fast.
but when trying to netstat -r it takes more then 5 seconds.

Please can you help to solve this issue.

Regards,

What Operating System and version are you running?

What's in this file:
Code:
/etc/nsswitch.conf

I am using AIX 7.1

I tried in my netsvc.conf:

nothing or hosts=local,bind

but i am still facing the same issues.

resolv.conf:

domain mydomain
nameserver 10.140.70.60

If netstat -r is slow and netstat -rn is not slow then you have a slow name server. You should put the local machine names in /etc/hosts but the real issue is the performance of your name server.

We are not psychic. Tell us about your name server.
What hardware and software specification?
Where (in network terms) is it relative to the server with issues?
Have you thoroughly checked its connection to the LAN and eliminated the common problems like auto-negotiation issues, Cisco Jumbo Packets, bad cables etc. ?
Is it just local or does it include the www.
Is is standalone or an add-on to an already busy server?
Have you got just the one name server?

Try to define almost all IPs, to which your server is connecting in /etc/hosts file.
Hope this will help
