Tools Solaris Printing
Does anybody know the maximum number of print queues supported by solaris 8/9. Basically I need to know that I can set up 200 without any issues. The server is a sunfire v240 4gb memory

Although it's not used anymore, there were 258 printers set up and used around 3 years ago utilizing NIS at my old company. And that was with Solaris 2.6 on a Ultra-2, so I don't see that you would have issues. I don't find any documentation that states the maximum number of print queues.

...thanks for replying so fast! - I couldnt find any documentation re this either. On the basis of what you have said though I guess I'll start configuring those print queues Smilie

I did find a bug report where someone had 500 printers set up under 2.5.1 but was having problems when starting more - the recommendation was to upgrade to Solaris 2.6. Usually Sun keeps stuff in the latest versions so you should be fine.
