Here's the one I copied

gawk: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.9, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.9, stripped

Is this the reason?

That would, indeed, be the reason. SPARC isn't x86_64, and Linux isn't Solaris. You need the right architecture and the right operating system, this is neither!
