du command

Hi,
on AIX 6.1.
What is wrong with my command ? The results are not consistent. The first one gives 16Gb (I think) and the seconde 7.81 Gb :
Code:
 root:/index01/bases/#du arch
16376408 arch
 root:/index01/bases/#du -g arch
7.81 arch

Thank for some light.

Maybe the first one is recusif by default and sum up the sub-directory ?

what gives
Code:
du -sk arch
du -sh arch

?

Thank you.
Arch directory has a new volume (I ought to delete some files. Then new test )
Code:
> du arch
5563216 arch
> du -g arch
2.65 arch
> du -sk arch
2781608 arch
> du -sh arch
du: illegal option -- h
Usage: du [-a | -s] [-rlkmgx] [ -H | -L ] [name ...]
>du -sH arch
5563216 arch

Thank you.

Code:
The first one is in 512-byte sectors...

But I can not understand at all what you mean. Please forgive me and explain.

Which one is finaly the real size ?

16376408 x 512-byte sectors =
=8188204 KiB
=7996,292969 MiB
=7,808879852 GiB

What Scrutinizer meant is :

16376408*512 = 8384720896 byte
8384720896/1024 = 8188204 Kbyte
8188204/1024 = 7996 Mbyte
7996/1024 = 7.81 Gbyte (around)

So all the size displayed are correct, but depending on the chosen options, it is displayed in a different unit (512 bytes block, Kbyte, Gbyte ...)

@Scruti
...oops ... cross post i guess
