user .profile file not working

Hi All,

I tried creating a .profile file but it is not working even after exiting the session.
But before that I will give a quick background.

I log into UNIX(SUN - ksh) and then SUDO to another user. After that I change DIRECTORY. In this DIRECTORY I tried creating the profile file but it is not working.

How do I force SUN to execute the .profile? I appreciate any suggestion.

Thanks
Sumeet

Hey Frank - When do I use the SUDO -i option.

I will explain what I do -

1. Login as User
2. SUDO -s -u Generic_User
3. cd New_Dir
4. Create .profile
5. exit

Now even when I login again and sudo back the .profile does not work.

.profile is only read if its in the $HOME directory of the user.

Hey Frank - I got it ...I need to login as GENERIC user and not just SUDO to set profile for the user.
