if you have to ask that I would not worry about it. But if you really want to know search the web and do your research as zaxxon suggested. How it's implemented is dependent on what networking gear you have. Check your vendor documentation.

I recently installed Mandrake Linux 9.0 on my intel machine, with a view to migrating completely from Windows within the next few months. First I need to get things working.
