Computer Rational® Purify® compatable SW

Hi

Rational® Purify® is a dynamic software analysis tool - helps to clean your own C or C++ code from memory leak problems etc.

Who knows some compatable (my be freeware) software?

Parasoft's Insure is probably the only thing that's even close. But I don't have any recent experience with that.

Almost all the freeware memory-checking tools only operate on heap memory. Purify does memory checking on much more - local stack variables, statics, everything.

And while Purify does have a performance impact, it's impact is nowhere near as bad as most other memory checkers. For example, if using Purify causes a 10% performance loss on your app, other memory checkers will probably cause performance hits measured in orders of magnitude rather than barely over single-digit percentage points.

One of the issues I've seen repeatedly with Purify is that it can produce so many errors that programmers discount its reports, thinking, "There's no way MY code is that bad."

Oh yes it IS.
