Good Morning all,

my problem is a little bit tricky ... we are running a bigger NFS environment, and since a few days we have a very high NFS load on our NFS server.
Until now, we were able to identifiy from which system the load is coming, but the problem is, these machine is used for cross compiling and we have to identify which user or which program is producing this high NFS load without kicking the user or killing the program in the first step.

We tried to trace the NFS packets between both systems, but this is more or likely senseless, because we would need year to analyse all packets, it 's simply to much.

Any good ideas ?

For example, NFS Watch is a good linux tool, glance is an HP-UX tool. There is probably a similar tool out there for your unix box.

These two tools are pretty much what is used. Our problem is: to do something about programs or users that are bombing the server - re-writing them, etc - is more of a problem than finding them. A lot of times it's a securuity issue. A group of users depends heavily on data that lives on another box - and they can't log in to the box with the data. So they cp 400GB of data over every day.
