Error message
I'm getting an error - symbol referencing errors. No output written to, etc
Can anybody tell me why this is?

You are probably missing libraries that you need. Try using 'ldd' (list dynamic dependencies) to see what it reports. Here's an example output:

$ ldd /bin/ls
libc.so.1 => /usr/lib/libc.so.1
libdl.so.1 => /usr/lib/libdl.so.1
/usr/platform/SUNW,Sun-Blade-100/lib/libc_psr.so.1
