Data Backup of filesystem
Dear Gurus and friends

I am RHCE certified but new to solaris 10, am using intel 945gcl motherboard in a intel P4 pc with 1 gb of memory.

my onboard NIC card is not detected (Intelpro 100 ve ), i checked in
/etc/driver_alisases it is in the file showing iprb0

dladm show-link # nothing showed
ifconfig iprb0 plumb # iprb0 device not found.

then i connected realtec nic card 8139d it is detected and working fine
but my nic 8139d is without boot Rom.

i want to implement jumpstart unattended method with PXE boot.
for that i must enable my onboard nic which is Intelpro 100 ve how to enable it. i googled a lot but nothing worked. help me to resolve this issue.

while trying to configure my NIC my os got corrupted. to install again it takes 70 minutes to install
is there any way to take the os image and rebuit the complete os in in 5 mnts

Any Help is appreciative

Scenario............ ufsdump 0uf /dev/rmt/0n / root has 10GB available but only 5GB are used. Does the backup record the entire 10GB regardless of whats actually used or just the 5GB being used? (1 Reply)

NAME

       install-solaris - install the Solaris operating system

SYNOPSIS

       install-solaris

       install-solaris	invokes  the  Solaris  Install	program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation,
       install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.

       The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:

       For SPARC machines:

       128 MB

	   Minimum physical memory for all installation types

       128 MB

	   Minimum physical memory required for windowing system

       384 MB

	   Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation

       For x86 machines:

       256 MB

	   Minimum physical memory for all installation types

       256 MB

	   Minimum physical memory required for windowing system

       512 MB

	   Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation

       In some cases, even if the minimum physical memory is present, available virtual memory after system startup can limit the number  of  fea-
       tures available.

       install-solaris	exists	only  on  the Solaris installation media (CD or DVD) and should be invoked only from there. Refer to the  for more
