I don't understand where that tail process came from? But try this. After you launch the coprocess, capture the pid:
console >&4 2>&4 |&
pid=$!

Then to kill it do:

kill $pid
wait $pid

If this works, it may cause an error message. You can get rid of that message by changing the wait:
wait $pid 2>/dev/null

Hi ,

i will try it !

In Lotus Notes , all events are traced in a log (.nsf proprietary format) and an ascii log too : here => /users/notes01/LOG/console-notes

it seems that the process console does 2 things :
run "ksh /users/notes/scripts/console 01" to listen to commands entered manually and
display in real time the "console-notes"

i've tried the following :
run the console command and in a second telnet session kill the display , if we enter manually a command , we don't have in return the result display ; so we need it !

I think i'm forced to do what you propose : to kill the display before the end of the script !

thanks for your help

Hi ,

when i do :
kill $pid

i kill the :
notes01 23310 36780 1 16:43:20 pts/7 0:00 ksh /users/notes/scripts/console

but not the one i want :

notes01 37210 23310 0 16:43:20 pts/7 0:00 tail -f /users/notes01/LOG/console-notes

i think i will be forced to find the right pid with grep commands , what do you think about ?

Here is a real longshot. Try changing that kill to:

/usr/bin/kill -15 -${pid}
