Hi,

I was wondering, If I take a backup using cpio to tape from UNIX, can I extract data on windows box using cpio for windows? Anybody ever do this?

Thanks.

Practically not tried but ,
cpio supports these formats binary, old ASCII,new ASCII, crc, HPUX binary, HPUX old ASCII, old tar, and POSIX.1 tar

ofcourse some of the above formats are supporting by the windows, and one more information about cpio , it automatically recognizes which kind of archive it is reading and can read archives created on machines with a different byte-order.
