opmn service listening to external connections - issue
Hello Gentlemen,
Its been a looong time I have posted here. I need a clarification. We started up the OPMN service (for Oracle App server) on Linux box. The service was supposed to listen on port 6005.
The service started up and was listening to 6005 but looks like it was listening only to localhost calls. I mean this service was not lsitening to requests coming from other servers.
I listed the services using -
What could be the problem? We are planning to restart the entire App Server for this purpose as we havent got any clue to why it happened. We have another server where we have same setup, but the issue doesnt occur there.
In the other server -
Any suggestions please!

Ranj
I believe you'll need to restart the opmn managed processes in any case.
I suppose that the public interface wasn't up during the installation process.
You can try something like this (UNTESTED, use at your own risk!):
Modify/add the network interface in opmn.xml
like this:
By the way, what's the current value of ipaddr remote?
Be aware of the following bug:
Note:462716.1 Using Two IP Addresses in Request Section of opmn.xml Gives Bad OPMN server host address' Error
Update the configuration:
Me personally, I would try to add the network interface via the application control web interface (sorry for not being specific, but I don't remember the exact properties page).
hello
can you check to see if there are iptables rules preventing other hosts on that server.
Its kinda strange that the same server would listening on localhost would not accept connections from other hosts.
also check if eth[n] (whatever iface) is up .

There are no rules in iptables and the interface is also up.
I checked my /etc/hosts file and it has entry only for the local host. Could that be a problem?
hello
well everything seems to be fine.
no /etc/hosts only contain the domain names aliases for ip addresses . Its like a cache for skipping the resolving of DNS servers. So there's nothing wrong with that.

This is more of an annoyance than an actual production issue. I've set it up so that each user's home directory is mounted to an immediate subdirectory of $HOME when they login, (and umounts when they log out to keep /proc/mounts a manageable size).
My issue comes in when my login scripts... (0 Replies)
