I looked at the init.ora parameters. I dont think that the init.ora is set optimally. It seems that the DBA is bluffing because these parms are out of the box....

he needs to do some performance tuning on his side...

Hi there,

I would definately try to turn off all the traces the DBA has turned on. They will kill performance and should only be used when absolutely needed.

Do you still need help?

naw. this issue is closed. we ended up useing NT for the solution.


i did all i could (as a sys admin) short of becomeing a DBA.

Have you ever tried to set the ASYNC_WRITE=TRUE and
ASYNC_READ=TRUE parameters in your init.ora file?
On solaris it is supported on both Filesystems and RAW devices.
