open up the command line and type 'kcontrol'
this will start kde's control center program. from there look in appearance and themes, then desktop, then size and orientation. from there you will be able to set your resolution.
if your mouse is not working properly then you most likely are using the wrong driver for your mouse. try a different driver.
please dont cross post, you should delete your thread in unix Q&A for dummies to save the mods some trouble. your question had more to do with unix desktops, so thats why this forum is the correct place for you question.
also please try to make your post subjects more descriptive than "Help me..."
