FSF high priority list becomes a campaign, seeks donations

10-02-2008 07:00 AM
After marking the GNU Project's 25th anniversary with an endorsement by Stephen Fry and the relicensing of OpenGL, the Free Software Foundation (FSF) is concluding the month-long celebration by relaunching its high priority list, which enumerates as-yet unwritten software needed to run a completely free computer system. Instead of being simply a page on the FSF's Web site, the list will become a campaign, and be actively promoted and discussed, and given a new emphasis in the Foundation's activities.

Programming for donations; do people need anything really?

Hello people! I can't find a job in real life because of my psycho problems but I need money. I am somewhat experienced in computers and had some minor programming experience, both for Web and application software but the experience is really minor. need help: how to send email with HIGH priority in shell scripts?

Hello, I know that mail or sendmail can be used to send email in a shell script. Is there any way I can set the priority of emails to send to HIGH? The reason why I want that is because my mobile email sends instant alert SMS's only for incoming emails with HIGH priority. (2 Replies)

high priority thread contains an infinite loop

Hi, Assume there are 3 threads N1, N2, N3. in N1 { .... while(1) { } } when the thread N1 got the time slice, it started executing the infinite loop.. Note:there is no condition inside the while(1) to end the infinite loop I heard that some RTOS will solve this problem... (0 Replies)

ddi_intr_get_hilevel_pri(9F)											      ddi_intr_get_hilevel_pri(9F)

NAME
ddi_intr_get_hilevel_pri - get minimum priority level for a high-level interrupt SYNOPSIS
#include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/conf.h> #include <sys/ddi.h> #include <sys/sunddi.h> int ddi_intr_get_hilevel_pri(void); INTERFACE LEVEL
Solaris DDI specific (Solaris DDI). Upon a successful return, the ddi_intr_get_hilevel_pri() function returns the minimum priority level for a high-level interrupt. The return priority value can be used to compare to other priority values, such as those returned from ddi_intr_get_pri(9F), to determine if a given interrupt priority is a high-level interrupt. High-level interrupts must be handled without using system services that manipulate thread or process states, because such interrupts are not blocked by the scheduler. In addition, high-level interrupt handlers must take care to do a minimum of work because they cannot be preempted. A typical high-level interrupt handler puts data into a circular buffer and schedule a soft interrupt by calling ddi_intr_trigger_soft- int(). The circular buffer can be protected by using a mutex that is properly initialized for the interrupt handler. The ddi_intr_get_hilevel_pri() function can be used before calling ddi_intr_add_handler() to help determine which type of interrupt handler can be used. Most device drivers are designed with the knowledge that supported devices always generate low level interrupts. On some machines, however, interrupts are high-level above the scheduler level and on other machines they are not. Devices such as those those using SBus interrupts or VME bus level 6 or 7 interrupts must use the ddi_intr_get_hilevel_pri() function to test the type of interrupt handler that can be used. The ddi_intr_get_hilevel_pri() function returns the priority value for a high-level interrupt. CONTEXT
The ddi_intr_get_hilevel_pri() function can be called from either user or kernel non-interrupt context.
