Is/Are there an/some application/applications , package/packages for benchmarking or system performance measuring which are there for almost all Linux releases and distributions?

You can also go for bonnie++, iozone, fileop, sysbench, perl benchmark cpan package, Phoronix Test Suite - Linux Testing & Benchmarking Platform, Automated Testing Framework, Open-Source Benchmarking, etc. There are many, depending on your needs.
