Hello all,

Anyone fimilar with su -l command?

So when I do su -l <user> any user it doesn't prompt me for password for that user. How I enable sudo to prompt for password whenever su -l command is used.

Are you doing this as root? Why would you need sudo to do this as root?

If not, are you running Ubuntu? If so, there is no "root" account activated and the only way I could think of to fix this is to set root's password. Then it should prompt.


Other than that, sudo assumes you have privilege for 5 minutes, if I recall. You could change the sudoers file to only allow a few commands from sudo.

You are probabally root. If you are root you would not need to enter a password to switch to any user with login rights.

Yes I am login as root on Centos5.2.

But even i am login as a user i am still able to do login as another user with out prompting me for a password.

Can you help me to block this and prompt for password for that particualar user.

I am prompt for password when i am login as user.


I am not prompt for password when i am login as root.

Anyway can block this even tho i am login as root.

Why would you need to???

root has full access to everything so if your root it doesnt matter if the user has a password.
