Ubuntu 11.04

Hi,

Is it normal to still have the Icons of REMOVED applications in the display of installed applications? Or have I got a problem? I also have Icons with no title, that I do not recognize, just sitting there, what's that all about ?
Can anyone throw any light on this , please.

A couple of them were for applications I tried to install under Wine, but I could not get them to run properly so I removed them, but there are others like Evolution and Epiphany which I removed because I found alternatives better suited to my way of working.

Thanks

I presume you are using 11.04 Desktop Edition. Do you have these icons on your desktop?

If you open a terminal and do the following:
Code:
cd Desktop
ls-lah

you will get a list of everything on your desktop, from here you can look at them using Gedit if they are shortcuts and remove any that need to be removed.

Remeber that that version will be out of support in about 4 months time, I'd recommend you consider an upgrade to 12.04 LTS which will be supported until April 2017
