It seems that LDoms cannot be installed using the JumpServer this way. The documentation Logical Domains (LDoms) 1.1 Administration Guide (820-4913-10) provides a procedure to "Install Using JumpStart Software". However, steps 4 to 10 are bit unclear to me. Has anyone tried this? I appreciate if you share your experience/method...

In the steps mentioned in the document under "Install Using JumpStart Software", here is what I am trying to understand:

Step 1: Where to get Solaris Security Toolkit package (SUNWjass) from? If it is patch 122608-07, then I could download it; I already did.

Steps 3 & 4: does it assume that I unzipped the patch?

Step 7: Where to get Logical Domains Manager package (SUNWldm.v) from? I did not find it as a patch or package? Do I have to get this from LDoms_Manager-1_1.zip which I use to do the manual install?

Note: I would like to install LDoms by JumpStart but do not want to Harden the System (like what is under "Install and Do Not Harden Your System"; and the command looks like # Install/install-ldm -d none). Can this be done with the JumpStart as well?

Thanks

I have a lot more questions for you but I think it's just safer to say that if you want to install something during Jumpstart that is not already a package then you'll need to write an init script to install the package after the OS has been installed and the system automatically rebooted.

An old, and simple, way I used to do this was to copy the files over to the client vai the finish script and then had the finish script create /a/etc/rc3.d/S99post-conf which contained all the commands to install the programs after the OS was up and running.

Well, we know that init.d and rc?.d directories are obsolete (or will be obsolete soon). Also, Sun provided a procedure to install during JumpStart to be used by users like us... too bad it is not clear enough... or maybe it is just me Smilie

I am still trying to figure this out; so I appreciate if anyone can share his/her experience installing LDoms using JumpStart server. Thanks in advance!
