The x4100 does not, you will need to add a SCSI card.

sure, it's from what I see at our customer sites. we've had couple of mother board failures in x4100, and x2100. And also, usually you will have to upgrade several things (SP, ILOM, LSI drivers), compared to OBP only in SPARC.

I don't know, but I prefer Solaris on SPARC many times. Maybe I'm used to it more I don't know Smilie

I checked now, the V240 End of life on "June 06, 2006" (no more sold)

but the end of support date is "November 30, 2012"

this mean you can buy it from any Sun partner and Sun will still support you up to 2012 (and the sun partner will support you even longer).

Sun keep extending the End of support date, because the server is still widely used in production, so chances are you will see it for long time.

I can back this up. I've got years of experience watching Sun's X86 systems eat themselves. My DC will not allow any Sun X86 in the door without a full Sun service contract and proof that the customer(s) understand the hardware is substandard.

We are not alone.

EOL or not, I'll take a V240 over a X2200 any day.
