Help - Accessing Sun Fire V120 A/LOM

Hi All,

My company has three V120 servers and two V245 servers. Currently we access ALOM on v245 thru NET MGT port. There are no NET MGT on V120. We use to access A/LOM on the V120s thru Windows Hyper Terminal connected to the Serial A port of v120. Since all of our Windows boxed are virtualized, we have no Windows Hyper Terminal to access to A/LOM on v120. Is there a way that I could access v120 LOM thru v245? If yes, how do I set it up? If not, what are my options?

Many thanks,

the v245 has a serial port, you can connect this to the v120 and use the solaris command "tip" to get a terminal session to your mashine.
another option would be a terminal-server... you can get this for small money at ebay. something like:
terminal server, Network Switches, Wireless Networking items on eBay.com

Thanks All,

A laptop will not help here because our servers are at a remote location. DukeNuke2, correct me if i am wrong. So you are saying the I can connect my from Serial Mgt Port on V245 to Serial Port A on V120 with a RJ45 cable, then use command "tip" on V245 to get a terminal session to V120.

Thanks again

AFAIK, you should type

tip hardwire

no it's not an typo, hardwire, its name of entry from /etc/remote

And the escape sequence is oooh my God, can't remember.... got it: "~ "
the ~ sign followed by a space. The cable would be regular "cisco" light-blue rollover.
