Solaris 8 and sshfs

Hi, all..

Does Solaris 8 support sshfs? (Sorry if my question is too simple Smilie)

We are going to mount a file system from Solaris 8 on HP-UX 11i. Will things will go smoothly with this? Will there be any performance problem if the number of users grow to perform I/O operations on mounted fs?

Thanks in advance;
Stephen W.

Hello. It's not supported as far as I know, not even in Solaris 10. But it might be in OpenSolaris, or at least in development, so a future version of Solaris might have it.

Maybe you should look into other possibilities (NFS, rsync, SAN?) depending on your needs.

you are right. FUSE is (afaik) only in opensolaris...

Thanks for the replies. Can you suggest me what will be the most suitable option for my case? What I need is that I need to write directly to remote location. Number of files would be fairly large ranging around some thousands. But file size is small. It needs to be secure(of course), open standard, supported on our plaforms and easily available. The host that will be written directly runs Solaris 8 and the writting host runs HP-UX 11i.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

why don't you use NFS?
