couple of hints

Try finding out about automounter and its interaction with home directories.

Check whether the service "autofs" is running via svcs. If not, enable it.

Also, check whether /etc/auto_home has the correct entry for home dirs.

Also, did you manually change the user's home dir in the passwd file?

Check the /etc/passwd file for tallying purposes

hi

I seem to have similar problem . I cant log in as a user only to realize the home directory of the user is empty . The home directory was in /home directory. I've deleted no files from the users home directory

Does this mean the files in the users home directory are lost ?

root@DEV # su - devadm
su: No directory!
root@DEV #

kindly shed some light on how i can overcome this.

similar problem happened with me before, I fixed it by changing the permission of the /export/home1 directory to 777.

How did you guys fixed this problem ?
