Solaris

I apologize in advance that this is probably more of a hardware question than a unix/software one.

I've got a seemingly brand-new sparcstation 20 that came with 2 memory modules and that's about it.

I've added a new 2 GB HDD and a VSIMM Onboard SX Graphics module.

So, I assume with the SCSI CD-ROM drive attached I would think I should _now_ be able to install Solaris however when I boot the machine everything sounds and looks OK. Lights on keyboard flash, system beeps, the station's corner power light comes on green and solid. Fans are spinning, drive is spinning, it makes kind of a breif "honk" or "buzz" sound (not sure what this is -- sound effect?). But then no mater how long I wait nothing comes up on the screen.

What have I missed? What's wrong? What do I need to configure?

Ensure that the power supply is stable (not flickering intermitently)as it MIGHT be power issue.
Instead of using your keyboard and mouse, please serial in using your notebook. halt the system to OK prompt, probe all the devices and do the necessary POST test. capture and send us the printenv output from the ok prompt.

Looks like I'll need to find my null modem cable and decide what to connect it to (since I don't have a PeeCee) and then track down the correct adaptor(s).
