Hi All,

Any idea why the second time I do this on my test solaris 8 fail?

Package not patched:
PKG=SUNWcarx.us
Original package not installed.

This appears to be an attempt to install the same architecture and
version of a package which is already installed. This installation
will attempt to overwrite this package.

/home/itik/patch/112438-03/SUNWcarx.u/install/checkinstall: /home/itik/p
atch/112438-03/SUNWcarx.u/install/checkinstall: cannot open
pkgadd: ERROR: checkinstall script did not complete successfully
Dryrun complete.
No changes were made to the system.
~

This requirement for the proper installation of ssh. The error with "PRNG is not seeded."

Thank you in advance.

It's not only that one, when I tried other patch, I got this:

Checking installed patches...
Verifying sufficient filesystem capacity (dry run method)...

Patch 112396-02 failed to install due to a failure produced by pkgadd.

See /var/sadm/patch/112396-02/log for details

Patchadd is terminating.

This is the only thing I did after installing Solaris 8:

Installing OpenSSH Packages - SPARC and Intel/Solaris 8

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you check if the pkginfo file is inside the package that you downloaded?
And an advise for you, do not have a habit of installing individual patches at a time. You wont know the dependencies. The dependencies may be a ratio of 1:1 or 1:10, so its tedious, if you leave anything in between, it'll screw up and hard to detect problems that may arise. Always use the patch clusters to update. The solaris Recommended patches will have them all if such a patch is critically required.
