nslookup issues urgent

bwadmin@as1$ nslookup as2.synapse.com
*** Can't find server name for address 192.168.0.16: No response from server
*** Can't find server name for address 192.168.0.17: No response from server
*** Default servers are not available

[Sandeep] /etc/resolv.conf have already 192.168.0.16/17 defined. I can also ping these servers from as1. What could be the issue? One reason could be that DNS service is not running on these DNS servers. Comments?

B. bwadmin@ns1$ nslookup as2.synapse.com
*** Can't find server name for address 127.0.0.1: Unspecified error
*** Default servers are not available

[Sandeep] Typically this error comes if /etc/resolv.conf is not defined. In this /etc/resolv.conf is defined and name servers are pingable. what could be the error? Any help is appreciated as it is quite urgent
