Data Solaris 10 Jumpstart woes

Hi All

I have a Solaris 10 jumpstart boot/config server set up on a subnet, and am trying to use it to build a client (the only other machine on the network). Things start out just fine, with the client booting into the Solaris Installation program, but then it just coredumps just as it's going to start the install. So, I decided to try to verify (dry run) the profile I'm using with the cmd:

/usr/sbin/install.d/pfinstall -D -c /path/to/profile
I've set SYS_MEMSIZE to be 640.
When I run this command, I get an error "Received Signal 11", and an exit status of 2. Attached file "server_truss_snippet" has the error.

If I just try to use the server to perform the install, I get a coredump generated on the client by pfinstall. 2 files attached for this: pstack_output (pstack command on the generated corefile)
client_truss_snippet.txt - output of truss when I manually do a "pfinstall /path/to/profile" on my Jumpstart client.

Whew - a lot to digest, and I'm pretty sure both problems are related, but I'm plain stuck, so I'm hoping someone out there might have an idea or two.

Thanks very much, in advance....
Rick

I've never gotten a core dump during jumpstart, so it's probably going to take more questions, but for starters, how is the jumpstart set up? the server truss was run against /jumpstart/Solaris_10 ... but the client truss was run against /cdrom/Solaris_10 ... ?
Could you list the steps you took to set up the jumpstart server or tell us how it is set up?

Yeah I've never seen a core during a jumpstart either. First time for everything....
Thanks for the reply - When the client dies, I get kicked out to a shell The server truss is run against /usr/sbin/install.d/pfinstall and the client truss against /jumpstart/sol_10_807/Solaris10/Tools/usr/sbin/install.d/pfinstall - the 2 pfinstalls are identical.

To set up my jumpstart server, I inserted the Solaris 10 DVD, and issued command "setup_install_server /jumpstart/sol_10_807" - nothing special, just that one command.
So, my profile, rules, rules.ok and sysidcfg files are in /jumpstart/config and my Solaris image is in /jumpstart/sol_10_807

TIA again...

Success, I think.....

Well....go figure. I re-initialized my Jumpstart server - deleted /jumpstart/sol_10_807 and did a "setup_install_server /jumpstart/sol_10_807". Funny - I ran a "du -sk" on the old directory before deleting it, and came up with a number. Then I did the same thing on the new image, after the setup completed, and came up with a different number. I'm thinking that something didn't copy correctly from the DVD on my original setup. Whatever the reason, I now seem to be installing correctly from the Jumpstart server - I am about 75% done, and am waiting patiently for a finish so I can do some more poking around. Thanks for taking the time to help out...

System shock the /cdrom think is normal, that's where the install media gets mounted juring an install even if it's JS. I really can't think what would be doing this, but I would guess that it was a bad install image.
