installing bootblk on Solaris 7

Hi,
Assuming I have to recover the Solaris 7 OS and data from tape to a new disk, Im sure we need to installbootblk from single user before we can make the disk bootable.
Can I use Solaris 8 or 9 cd or dvd to installbootblk? What can be any alternate matter if I don't hae solaris 7 OS cd?

Probably no one has the answer. If you need to restore a Solaris 7 bootblk you should be using Solaris 7 media. I don't have access to a Solaris 7 system anymore. Maybe Sun can can get you the media if you act fast enough. According to my notes, Solaris 7 is in Phase 2 support until August of this year.

Since you're recovering data from tape, why not try a Solaris 10 bootblock? You will still have the tape if it screws up the disk.

What's on that tape? A tar.gz or an image? In the image case you should be able to nuke it in with any boot cd (even e.g. linux)

Its ok. I will try and see if there's any other possibilities.
