Serial Console on Solaris

Hi there,
Thank you for that link, but that link describes how to connect from a laptop to a serial port of a sun server.

What I would like to do is connect from one Sun V100, via console to the LOM-A port of another Sun V100 server to get the LOM> prompt of the seconds server.

The sun v100 doesnt have 9way socket on it.

Thanks all the same.

but it IS a serial port! and you have to treat it that way... port a is the lom port and port b is a serial port like it is on a notebook... only with an rj45 port. one of the above links have something written about the pins... and NO, you can not connect from a console session to another console port. maybe you should buy an old annex console server:

Put the cable between port B(seriel) server1 and port A(seriel) server2

check that you have line "cuab:dv=/dev/cua/b:br#9600" in /etc/remote then you should be able todo tip

unix% tip cuab

Sorry. I probably didn't understand what you meant.

Machine DB9 adapter
RJ45 RS-232
1 (RTS) blue - 8 (CTS)
2 (DTR) orange - 6 (DSR)
3 (TXD) black - 2 (RXD)
4 (GND) red - 5 (GND)
5 (GND) green - 5 (GND)
6 (RXD) yellow - 3 (TXD)
7 (DSR) brown - 4 (DTR)
8 (CTS) gray - 7 (RTS)

So If I take this pin-out diagram and swap the DB9 side to an RJ45, this should work?

yes, it should work...
