compiling Seamonkey 1.1.9 on Solaris 9 sparc

I have gotten tired of getting error messages from SeaMonkey about not being on the latest version.

I have downloaded the source for SeaMonkey, and when I attempt to make it with "gmake -f client.mk build" , I get the following error message:

Code:
configure: error: Library requirements (pango >=1.1.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

I have already used pkg-get and pulled down 1.19.1 of libpango, so I know it's there on the server. Can someone help me determine the next step in helping gmake see the new library?
