solaris not installing on sata2
Hi all,
I just bought a new sata2 HD .
I installed xp(sp2) first then went on to install sxde 79a..
the first installation went off smoothly how ever during the initial boot from the HD, it got struck after i get the SUN copyright info.
(Didint get that configuring /dev at all) .

the irony is that when i tried installing it again it didnt even go beyond the first installation screen(where we need to specify whether to install sxde or solaris express and other options)...

Even stranger is the fact that any other cd that i used prior to this installation has the same problem, but if i use a brand new dvd the it will work just fine ,however it hangs midway during the setup procedures....

One last info,
when i try using this on vmware it works just fine, it booted properly, installed flawlessly and is working fantastically!!!(if i try it on a stand alone partition then the problem arises!!)

Can anyone pls help me out with this??

NAME

       install-solaris - install the Solaris operating system

SYNOPSIS

       install-solaris

       install-solaris	invokes  the  Solaris  Install	program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation,
       install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.

       The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:

       For SPARC machines:

       128 MB

	   Minimum physical memory for all installation types

       128 MB

	   Minimum physical memory required for windowing system

       384 MB

	   Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation

       For x86 machines:

       256 MB

	   Minimum physical memory for all installation types

       256 MB

	   Minimum physical memory required for windowing system

       512 MB

	   Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation

       In some cases, even if the minimum physical memory is present, available virtual memory after system startup can limit the number  of  fea-
       tures available.

       install-solaris	exists	only  on  the Solaris installation media (CD or DVD) and should be invoked only from there. Refer to the  for more
       details.

       install-solaris allows installation of the operating system onto any standalone system. install-solaris loads the software available on the
       installation media. Refer to the  for disk space requirements.
