They never send a confirmation email. They thought I am a rouge.

I know how to outfox them.

I went to a public library here and registered. Now my question is running for more than 24 hours. No answer.

I am disappointed. It seems people don't know much about those tricky issues.

Did you install the linux kernel packages before installing VirtualBox ?

I am running open SuSE 10.3 on that computer.

I don't know whether you are aware of program installation procedure in open SuSE.

There is an icon to search programs.
I searched for VirtualBox.
It asked me to insert the DVD.
Then I followed their procedure.

In open SuSE this is the best way to install programs.
It always ask you to install another bunch of programs because they are dependencies.

In the VirtualBox site you will find a document where you can get all the pitfalls of installation.

That particular document suggested two modules to install. It was in the DVD and I installed them.

You might wonder what this DVD is.

It is 4.1 GB DVD. It is the installation DVD. It is a bootable DVD too.
You can download it from their site and burn it.'
My open SuSE 10.3 works fine.

Thanks for these details, but I'm afraid you fail to answer to my question which is:
Did you install the linux kernel packages before installing VirtualBox ?

I am not sure about the things you are talking about. The following passage is from the manual.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In newer Debian and Ubuntu releases, you must install the right version of
the linux-headers and if it exists the linux-kbuild package. Current
Ubuntu releases should have the right packages installed by default.
In older Debian and Ubuntu releases, you must install the right version of
the kernel-headers package.

On Fedora and Redhat systems, the package is kernel-devel.

On SUSE and OpenSUSE Linux, you must install the right versions of the
kernel-source and kernel-syms packages.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It insists the installation of 'kernel-source' and 'kernel-syms' for open SuSE users. I don't know what those means. It was in the DVD. I installed it. It installed some other dependencies too.

I'm not an OpenSuSE user.

You should ask how make sure you have the right packages installed on a better suited forum.

Thanks jlliagre.

I am registered at open SuSE forum. My name is Rocket for their forum.
I posted the problem. Now it is running for more than 24 hours without a single response.

These are unique issues. There are not many people dealing with Solaris in pc environment.
